Micah is a knitter so he’s decided to play to his strengths and create a series of images that explore the world of yarnbombing. There is an active subculture of urban knitters (a bit like guerilla gardeners) who like nothing better than to decorate our city streets with multi-coloured woolly appendages. Micah is interested in the business of knitting; the zen-like mood it induces in the knitter. He also likes the association of knitting and nature, hence the sequence of images in which trees are given presents combining knitting and personal messages. He’s planning another project in which the tree trunks themselves function like knitting needles, creating a web of coloured thread like a secret grove. Fantastic!
